This photograph shows the tin man in a modern day world in which is the recreation of a story in photography. I like how this picture has been put in black and white as in its earlier creation it was predominantly a black and white movie (with hints of sepia), however by putting it in black and white i feel as if this photographer is trying to keep the tin mans origins included. The use of black and white also doesn't let anyone stand out net to him which makes him the focal point of the picture.
This picture shows a girl reading a book in a soft subtle tone which suggest she is at one, also she is shown to be quite comfortable which emphasizes the fact that she feels at one. There is a flower covering the book and this is very nice as this leads to questions whether she has placed the flower there or whether it is a figment of her imagination and this is the illustration of the book coming to life for her, this image is very simple, yet quite effective.
This picture tells the story of Alice in Wonderland but has been made to seem more modern almost by the slight change of her clothes and due to the editing of this picture which has seemed to make everything look morphed. This picture looks as if it follows the Alice in Wonderland remake as opposed to the original which personally I think seems more mythical and interesting anyway as it involves real people as opposed to a cartoon. I will bare in mind when doing my photos the part that editing can play and how it can even make a photo seem fictional.
This photo tells the story of Tarzan and again as a recreation of the story, however it has kept true to the story by keeping Tarzan in his original place and original clothing as opposed to placing him in a modern situation/habitat of a city. This photo doesn't seem overly edited which I like because it keeps it looking quite natural and therefore more believable as a story as opposed to far fetched. I also like the models stance in this position as it reflects his character, this is something I will try to incorporate in my work.
My definition of story telling: The retelling of an event or creation of a plot which is constructed through personal experiences or the imagination, documented via books, photos, music etc.
