Pregnancy Shoot Work Record -1

In this lesson I shot photos in the studio and the subject was my brothers pregnant girlfriend, I made her pregnant belly the focal point of most of the photos. This represented story telling as to me this represented her beginning the next chapter of her life. This shoot followed the ideology of micro stories as this is something she finds important, and it is important, however it is not important to everyone and would not make it in the news. I took these pictures, over 200 in an hour, the props I used included, baby clothes and a frame. I also organised so my model wore plain-ish clothing however on her shoot she wore a top (which I bought her for christmas) which has baby hands and feet on, which added to the narrative of this shoot. I put these photos into contact shoots and then chose my top 4 and edited these, however one picture I edited was a grid which contained 9 photos. The editing of these photos took a while because i wanted a certain vibe for each picture.

This is the grid that I created and I really like the composition I created with this, I like the placement of the picture. I placed the picture with her hands in a heart on her stomach in the middle because her bump (her pregnancy) is the whole point of the shoot. All the pictures on the left have her facing to the right and vice versa with the right side of the picture, and in the middle I positioned it so she was facing forward. i used a white back ground to give a positive vibe to the picture.  The biggest difficulty I faced with this picture was getting the spacing even between every picture so it looked more aesthetically pleasing.

In this picture my model was topless and I cut off her face as it was not important, the belly is the focal point of this picture, I like the fact that she is against a navy background as it makes her body stand out. I also like the lighting in this picture as it creates a nice shadow of form on her stomach, however I edited this so the form looked harder. Through the use of form her belly is emphasised as it makes, in this online version the picture looks very pixelated but on paper it does not. Even though this picture is quite explicit I really like this picture as for me it reveals how you would bare everything for your offspring and this photo tells the story of a mothers love and the beginning of the next chapter for this person.





I really enjoyed this shoot and if I was to do it again I would get my brother again as it tells the story of what they are about to embark on together.
